01 · Challenge

Challenge

Bifanas & Co., based in Castelo Branco, is a food business built around a single iconic Portuguese dish. The challenge was turning something as everyday and informal as a bifana sandwich into a brand with real presence, without losing the warmth of a neighbourhood tasca or drifting into generic fast-food territory.

02 · Approach

Approach

The logotype is built on a fluid handwritten script for "Bifanas," with "& Co." adding a more structured counterpoint — the ampersand set in bright red and a small mustard-coloured dot closing the composition, a direct nod to the ketchup and mustard that ride alongside the dish. The dark burgundy, cream and red palette evokes the inside of a traditional tasca, while the scalloped, bread-roll-shaped cards and the dashed mustard stitch lines used across cards and menus echo a cloth napkin's seam.

03 · Solution

Solution

The system runs across business cards, a printed menu with an ornate frame and dish photography, and promotional materials that share the same scalloped-cutout vocabulary. It's an identity that gives a tasca staple the same design attention as a signature restaurant, without ever losing its home-cooked, come-on-in feel.
