01 · ChallengeChallenge
DB3 is a fuel and lubricant distributor based in Manteigas, at the heart of the Serra da Estrela, and it needed an identity that could carry weight on a delivery van, a fuel pump and a business card alike. The name itself was the brief: the founder's initial and birth year, which risked reading as an arbitrary alphanumeric code unless it was built into something with real visual presence.
02 · ApproachApproach
The wordmark splits the bold white "D" from a lighter grey "83," making the founder's initial and year legible as two distinct ideas within one solid, condensed lockup built for signage and small print alike. Above it sits a droplet — the product itself, fuel — with a five-pointed star cut from its base in negative space, rendered in a warm gradient from yellow through orange to red. That same palette reappears as a faceted, low-poly mountain range wrapped around the wordmark, doubling as both a flame silhouette and a graphic nod to the Serra da Estrela terrain the business serves.
03 · SolutionSolution
The system holds up across a presentation folder, two business card variants in light and dark, a lanyard-mounted ID badge, and full vehicle livery on the company's delivery van, where the faceted mountain graphic wraps across the rear panel and doors. It reads as a serious, road-ready industrial mark up close and at speed, while still carrying the personal story — initials and year — that the founder wanted at its core.
